Good Afternoon,

Please find below the latest press release from the International Wine Challenge (IWC) announcing the launch of their new iPhone Wine App.

If you wish to trial the new IWC App, please contact touch pr asap, who have a limited number of free Apps available.

International Wine Challenge Launch Exciting New Wine App

The International Wine Challenge (IWC) has launched an iPhone Application to give consumers instant access to the world's best wines at the touch of a screen.

The IWC App is designed to allow consumers to search for IWC award-winning wines by country, grape variety, and to see an image of the wine label. Tasting notes from IWC judges, prices, stockist details, alcohol levels and links to relevant sites are also available.

“It is the credibility and authority of the IWC that has allowed us to develop such an App,” explains Andrew Reed, Managing Director of William Reed Business Media. “The IWC logo has international recognition among consumers and we are now strengthening this power by making award-winning wines more accessible and providing vital information that can be used to help inform and educate.”

Inclusion in the App is free for IWC winners who will see their wines showcased in a downloadable shop window shared by some of the world’s best wines.

“The genius of this App is that it is so accessible,” says Andrew Reed. “When planning a wine purchase, consumers can use the IWC App when they’re on the move, at home or at point of sale which to find wines that have been recognised by the IWC. It is an added value tool that will further help to drive sales for wine producers and wine retailers in the off and on trade alike.”

The increasing popularity of the App is evident by the growing number being available to download, and the millions of users worldwide. As of January this year it’s estimated that 3 billion Applications have been downloaded*, but of the thousands of iPhone apps that are currently on the market, only a small handful are for wine lovers.

Now in its 27th year and widely considered to be the world's most prestigious, influential and meticulously judged independent wine competition in the world, the IWC is leading the way with technological developments in the wine industry. Future developments will include online ordering, food pairing suggestions and stocks for laying down.

Consumers are able to download a free trial version of the App focusing on the 2009 winning wines from Australia while the full App retails at £4.99.

The IWC iPhone App officially launches 1 March 2010.
